How to enjoy your jewelry

Wearing Jewelry

Please refrain from wearing the product while bathing, sleeping, playing sports, or doing heavy work, as it may cause discoloration, staining, damage, or deformation. Also, please refrain from wearing the product in saunas or ski resorts, as it may lead to burns or frostbite. If you notice any abnormalities on your skin, immediately discontinue use and consult a specialist.

Storing your jewelry

To reduce stains and discoloration caused by sweat and sebum, wipe your jewelry with a soft cloth or a special cloth after wearing it and store it in a sealable plastic bag, the included pouch, or a case. Avoid storing it in direct sunlight or in high temperatures and humidity. The materials used in jewelry are sensitive to chemicals such as detergents, cosmetics, and perfumes, as well as water. Please try to avoid contact with jewelry as much as possible.

Regarding jewelry handling

Jewelry is made with great care. Please avoid dropping, hitting, pulling, or applying pressure to it, as this may cause damage to the product. For products that use chains, such as necklaces and bracelets, the parts connecting the chain and hook are designed to detach when stress is applied, in order to ensure your safety. To prevent parts from coming off or the chain from breaking, please remove your jewelry before putting on or taking off your clothing. Please also remove your jewelry when carrying luggage or playing sports that require equipment.

About Silver

Due to the characteristics of the material, silver may react with moisture, dust, sweat, etc. in the air and turn black. Avoid wearing silver for long periods of time or leaving it in contact with water. After wearing, wipe it with a soft cloth or a special cloth (make sure to wipe off any moisture), and store it in a sealable plastic bag or wrapped in cloth to avoid contact with air as much as possible.

About jewelry materials

Silver

This metal has long been used in jewelry due to its white luster. Most of the items sold at NEEDIS are silver 925 (sterling silver).

*There are some exceptions. This number indicates the silver content in parts per thousand, and refers to a silver product that is 925 parts per thousand, or 92.5% silver and 7.5% other metals. Silver has the property of reacting to components in the air, sweat, sebum, etc., and turning black.

gold

Like silver, gold has been used in jewelry since ancient times. Because it is very soft and easily stretched, alloying it with other metals increases its strength, hardness, and abrasion resistance. NEEDIS carries 18K gold, 14K gold, and 10K gold. Gold content is often expressed in parts per 24, with 18K gold being 18/24, or 75% gold and 25% other metals. 10K gold is 10/24, or approximately 42% gold. Colored golds such as "white gold" and "pink gold" are created by changing the color and proportions of the metals they are combined with. (White gold is finished with rhodium plating.)

platinum

Platinum is a white metal, also known as white gold. Because it's often written as "white gold," it's often confused with white gold, but platinum is a "single metal" while white gold is a "gold-based alloy," making them completely different materials. Platinum is a stable material that rarely tarnishes or deteriorates. It has a very high specific gravity and is a very heavy precious metal, making it highly rare and popular in Japan, especially for wedding rings. NEEDIS carries platinum 950, platinum 900, and platinum 850. (Note: This varies by product.) The platinum content is expressed in parts per thousand. Platinum 950 is 950 parts per thousand, meaning it's 95% platinum and 5% other metals.
